Affordability

The Epson EcoTank series of printers come at a higher price than the Canon MegaTank series. This is because this series seems to be going for a more professional demographic. All the printers of this particular series are built differently.

Though ink tank printers, they all have sleek designs with high–end offerings. Moreover, the buyer will get four EcoTank ink bottles with each of these printers that include a black, a magenta, a cyan, and a yellow ink bottle.

The Canon MegaTank series of printers, on the other hand, are very much affordable. These printers will make your dream of having a high-quality ink tank printer true. It doesn’t mean that these printers are not as good as the Epson EcoTank printers.

They are equally efficient and boast an easy consumer experience straight out of the box. You will get a set of four ink bottles of four different colors with each of these printers. Also, you will get two bonus ink bottles.

Design

Since both the Epson EcoTank and the Canon MegaTank printers are ink tank printers, they do not have much difference in their designs. But there are a few significant differences between these two series that make one better than the other.

While the Epson EcoTank series of printers feature a small and color LCD display for convenient navigation, the Canon MegaTank series completely ignore this feature. Instead of a display screen, you will get a set of command buttons in these printers.

Though some of the printers of the Canon MegaTank series have a monochrome display, the colorful display of an Epson EcoTank printer is a much more defined and clear user interface.

Both the Epson EcoTank and the Canon MegaTank series of printers have visible ink tank displays. Both of these series display their ink tanks on the front and central parts.

Type of Ink Used

The Epson EcoTank series of printers use pigment-based black ink and dye–based colored ink, including magenta, yellow, and cyan. The Canon MegaTank series of printers also use the same type of ink.

Though these inks are in the same category, there is a difference between their prices. The type of ink used by the Epson EcoTank series is slightly more expensive than the type of ink used by the Canon MegaTank series.

Page Yield

There is a significant difference between the page yields of the Epson EcoTank and the Canon MegaTank series. This difference is caused by the ink they use. While the Epson EcoTank series can deliver up to 4500 pages in black, the Canon MegaTank series can deliver up to 6000 pages in black.

When it comes to color prints, the Epson EcoTank series can deliver up to 6000 pages and the Canon MegaTank series can deliver up to 7000 pages. So in both cases, the Canon MegaTank series can deliver a higher amount of prints than the Epson EcoTank series.

Other Features

The Epson EcoTank and the Canon MegaTank series have similar connectivity options, including USB connectivity, WiFi connectivity, and Google Cloud and AirPrint. The printers of both these series are multifunctional printers, except for the Canon Pixma G5020 and G1200.

Both of these series include Automatic Document Feeder and Faxing features. Their printing resolutions are almost the same. But in terms of printing speed, the Epson EcoTank series wins the race.

Bottom Lines– Which Is Better?

After considering all the similarities and differences between these two series, we could say that the Canon MegaTank series is far better than the Epson EcoTank series.

The MegaTank series comes at a lower price. The printers can provide high-speed printing, borderless printing, minimalist design, higher page yield, and many other advantages.

We own an older Epson Work force and a Canon G7000 with the ink tank. The controls on the Epson are a lot easier to use than the Canon and WiFi connection is much better than with the Canon. We have seldom had lost connectivity with the Epson but daily loss it with the Canon, no matter what we do. We bought the Canon because of price but wonder if it was worth it. Only problem is again cost. Besides the problems with the Canon, cost per sheet is super low and print quality is great.
